Big Canoe Halloween Weekend Preview

Ghosts, ghouls and goblins might be out and about on Oct. 31, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some Halloween fun at our convenience!

Look for these spooky events – including the debut of the Haunted Village – ideal for kids, kids at heart, and our furrier family members. And remember to revisit this page for updates.

Witches of Lake Petit Pontoon Boat Parade, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  Friday, Oct. 28 – Decorate your boat, put on your best costume, and join the Marina staff in a Boat Parade featuring the mysterious witches of the lake.

Halloween at the Clubhouse, 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 – Come dressed in your Halloween best. Make your dinner reservation and listen to live music on the Veranda with Suburban Road. There’s no additional cover charge, so swing by and have a great time! Info: Bigcanoebearsociety@gmail.com.

Bark or Treat Howloween Party, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 – This pup-oriented Halloween Party at Diamond Dog Park is hosted by the Dog Park Committee and Dog Park Social Club. A fun photo backdrop will be set up, and there will be a canine costume contest. Contest categories include pup and parent lookalike, most creative, funniest, scariest and overall best in show. Don’t worry – even if your dog doesn’t win a contest prize, all pups will come away with a bag of dog treats. Remember, dogs must be leashed at all times.

Admission is free, but there will be a request for a $5 donation at the entrance. This donation will go toward future events such as the Fourth of July Dog Parade. Info: Sherry Evans at srevans284@gmail.com.

A Haunted Village, 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 – This year, Big Canoe frightfest will be at the Haunted Village, which transforms the Chimneys into a haunted house for trick-or-treaters. Through the doors of the house, visitors will be treated to a tour full of eager ghosts, goblins, and witches eager. The tour will end with treat stations run by Property Owners.

Property Owners can sign up to decorate their own tables for their candy giveaways. Each table station will also be entered into a contest for a prize.

Anyone is free to attend, but those who want to set up a station must sign up at https://forms.gle/G1rqNQwz93ZJqfxY9 . Info: Amanda Copeland, acopeland@bigcanoepoa.org.
