Put on Your Dancing Shoes and Enjoy Awesome Toe Tappin’ at The Terraces Concert Series

By Graham Nicholson

Dust off those dancing shoes and get ready for another incredible musical season at The Terraces, sponsored by The Big Canoe Chapel. The committee has been hard at work, signing new bands, and welcoming back fan favorites, too, for your enjoyment and fellowship. We were thrilled with the great and enthusiastic response to last year’s program and to see so many returning faces and many new ones.

The first concert is set for May 28 and will feature Still Standing, an Elton John tribute band. The band passionately recreates the Elton John Experience, paying close attention to the smallest detail. Ben Frey is Elton John, not only on vocals but also in looks. Ron Todd playsthe lead guitar and does vocals, too. Originally from Panama City, Frey now resides in Destin Fla. He is as familiar with lead as well as acoustic guitar and has a long tribute band career, having played in Elvis and Temptations replications. Jeff Ellison plays the bass and helps on vocals, too. He is from Indianapolis but resides in Niceville, Fla. Finally, Shawn “Shack” Shackelford plays the drums and does vocals, too. He is from Columbus, Miss., but now too resides in Niceville Fla. He won Beachcomber Music Award for Best Drummer in 2012. Groove to the sound of such hits as “Crocodile Rock,” “Benny and the Jets,” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road,” Rocket Man,” Philadelphia Freedom,” and Elton’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe that became a tribute to Princess Diana, “Candle in the Wind.”

The Patty Wagon food truck will be at the first concert serving up the best burgers all over Atlanta and North Georgia. Bacon the Law, their secret 5-0 sauce, and choice of seasoned fries are what they are known for… ’cause these burgers are so good, it’s criminal.’ Service is walk-up starting at 5 p.m. Various food trucks will be on hand throughout the season. If you enjoy a particular food truck, please let us know.
