Big Canoe Travel Club Upcoming Programs

By Margo Vallone

There’s great news for all Big Canoe travel devotees, which seems to be most of us! With the ebbing of multiple COVID travel restrictions and concerns, the Big Canoe Travel Club is gearing up for an exciting 2023 year of trips, cruises and excursions to suit every desire and taste, from intimate river cruises to ocean crossings, and luxury resort stays to roughing it on an African safari.

After taking a holiday break in November and December, the Travel Club will hit the ground running at the Jan. 18, 6 p.m. meeting with Carl Crews from Celebrity Cruise Line introducing its new luxurious vessels offering European and other itineraries for 2023-24. Celebrity is the Big Canoe Travel Club featured co-sponsor for 2023, and it will give away a free Caribbean cruise for two at the Club’s annual October drawing. You newbies will want to attend as many of the monthly meetings as possible, because you may fill out a ticket at every meeting to be placed in the drawing. If you are a couple, you have twice the chance to win each time you attend.

Meetings the rest of the year will be held on the fourth Wednesday of every month in the Clubhouse Mountains View Room at 6 p.m., and they feature compelling video presentations by top international cruise and travel corporations. The slate for the next three months will highlight:

Feb. 22, CIE Tour’s Chris Barnikel will present details of their London and extremely popular Iceland trips.

Mar. 22, Worldwide Iberostar All-Inclusive Get-A-Ways, presented by Julie Robinson.

Apr. 26, AMA Waterways, Rob Huffman will finalize the “Colors of Provence” river cruise details. Currently, about 60 Big Canoe friends and families are signed up to depart on August 27 for this seven-night cruise through the French Beaujolais and Southern France regions, with an optional pre-trip three-night stay in Paris, and an optional post-trip to Nice and Monaco.

There will be additional group trips scheduled during 2023-24, including a trip to England and Ireland, a “Taste of Iceland” land tour, and a 2024 European Christmas Market Tour. Membership in the Travel Club is free, and you are invited to come early and enjoy a complimentary beverage while you mingle and share experiences with approximately 100 fellow travelers.
