To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
This is the last line of the oath that Boy Scouts pledge every day. Are you ready to make a difference in your life by living that pledge? If so, there has never been a better time to join the Scouting movement and there has never been a better unit to join than Scout Troop 20!
Troop 20, chartered by Big Canoe Chapel, is home to Scouts from Big Canoe to Bent Tree, Jasper to Marble Hill, and Dawsonville to Ball Ground. Troop 20 Charter Organization Representative Carl Lundstrom says, “We welcome boys between the ages of 11-17, or perhaps Webelos, new to our area, ready to cross over to Boy Scouts. Plus, the quintessential scouting experience, summer camp at Camp Woodruff in the beautiful, cool mountains of North Georgia is coming up in July – it’s a week filled with adventure from archery to sailing and rifle shooting to whitewater kayaking. Lifelong skills are learned – first aid to wilderness survival and even chess to welding. So now is the time to join Troop 20 and join us this summer at Camp Woodruff.”
“Certainly, scouting at its core is about ethics, morals and service to others,” said Lundstrom, “and we instill those traits in our boys through adventures in the great outdoors.” In addition to summer camp, Troop 20 activities include snow skiing, camping, caving, scuba diving, and of course, service to country and community through our flag retirement ceremonies and participation in the Big Canoe Military Tribute Banner Program. Summer camp on the Woodruff Scout Reservation represents the “icing on the cake” for Scouts.
Come join us! Troop 20 welcomes the opportunity to meet parents and future Boy Scouts. For more information, or to set up a time for a visit, fill out the contact form at www.bigcanoechapel.com/connect/youth/scouts/scouts.html or contact: Scoutmaster Tony Miller at email@example.com
