Gentle Reminders from the Architectural and Environmental Control Department

By Treena Parish
Department Manager AECD

Just about every day, I am out and about on the property to check on various things.  As I drive around, I see several reasons that prompt me to remind folks about a few things.

Decorative appurtenances (yard art) are limited to three items visible to the street. Please keep in mind that these items must still be natural in appearance, suitable to the area and be no more than 36 inches tall.  These type items include but are not limited to: statuary, bird/butterfly houses, bird feeders (must be removed from March 1 to Nov. 30), bird baths, fountains, ponds and planters.
Address posts should be maintained just like any other part of your home.
Artificial flowers- metal or otherwise- are not permitted.
Exterior furniture must be dark green, brown, grey or black. This includes the cushions and umbrellas.
Uplighting – lighting that shines up or is intended to highlight a particular feature – is not authorized.

If you have any questions about the Standards, please give me a call at 706-268-3394 or shoot me an email at tparish@bigcanoepoa.org.
