Big Canoe Rotary Club Interest Meetings Planned

A Rotary Club of Big Canoe is in the forming stages with two interest meetings planned. The first meeting is set for Thursday, March 24 and the second one will be on Thursday, April 7.  The meetings will take place in the Mountain View Room in the Big Canoe Clubhouse at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to come and learn more about this international fellowship and service organization.

Spearheaded by District 6910 Governor Mike Berg, and members of the Rotary Club of Dawson County and the Rotary Club of Jasper, the interest meetings will determine if there is a desire for a club in the Big Canoe community.

Fran Farias, a 26-year Rotary club member, is the chair of the organizing committee. Aside from attending one of the meetings, those interested in learning more may contact Farias at rotaryfran96@gmail.com.

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in their communities, and in themselves. A local club offers members social and continuing education opportunities, in addition to a wide variety of service opportunities.

At each meeting, Rotarians will be educated about the needs of their community, the nation and the world as there is an opportunity to listen to invited speakers on a variety of topics.

With 33,000 clubs in more than 200 geographic regions, Rotary is for everyone and represents a cross-section of backgrounds. Rotarians welcome members from different religions, countries, cultures, races, creeds, political persuasions, languages and ethnic identities. Rotarians are encouraged to attend other club meetings as they travel throughout the world.
