Call of Interest for Big Canoe Community Theatre and Performing Arts Club

By John Herzler

We are very excited to announce the formation of the Big Canoe Community Theater and Performing Arts Club. With all of the talent that resides within our gates, and sincere enthusiasm already from experienced and inexperienced folks alike, it is time to bring something new to our community.

Our founding committee will be holding an information/organization meeting at 7 p.m. Friday, Sep. 30 at the Wildcat Pavilion.

Whether you are a former thespian, director/producer, musician, dancer/choreographer, or have a technical skill such as set design and build, stage management or props, sound systems, etc., here’s a chance to release your inner muse. Perhaps your interests lie in working behind the scenes, in a supportive role based on need, or gaining experience in theatre arts. There’s plenty of opportunity for everyone.

Here’s a teaser of the ideas brainstormed thus far:

A Storytelling Festival
Dinner Theater at the Clubhouse
Cabaret
Short Scenes
Playwriting and Original Plays
Community Theater
Community Musical Theater
Live Radio Show in Conjunction with Inside the Gates Radio
Themed dinners that include a cast

– Murder Mystery “Who Dunnit?”

– Roaring ’20s Gala with a Women’s Suffrage re-enactment

– Original short scenes from Big Canoe and Wolfscratch history

– Frank Sinatra “Step Back in Time” dinner theatre with ballroom dancing

Any resident of Big Canoe is welcome to attend and we look forward to meeting you. In the interim, if you have any questions, please email bigcanoetheater@gmail.com or call 410-474-1434.
