Celebrate Big Canoe volunteerism by nominating your neighbor for the President’s Award

It’s amazing to think that Big Canoe has been around for half of a century. Through all of those decades, it has continued to be supported by innovative and charitable individuals from within its own gates. The President’s Award is an annual honor that celebrates a resident who has made such a significant impact or contribution to Big Canoe through volunteer work.

Last year’s winner, Shiraz Alikhan, was nominated for his years with the Wellness Collaborative, where he is the board president for the non-profit organization that provides non-emergency and non-medical services including meals, rides, visits and referrals to the residents of Big Canoe. Previous winners included Bob Mackey in 2019, Eric Lindblom in 2018, Ken Nichols in 2017, Rhonda Stock in 2016 and Paul Goldstein in 2015.

If you know anyone who has also made a impactful, selfless contribution to Big Canoe, we invite you to nominate them by accessing the form at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Uw6_Rejuc3dLswz8SG61UKg7F2008pMT/view

Please note that neither POA Board Members nor their family members can be nominated. Nominees should be Big Canoe residents for at least two years.

Please complete and return the form electronically to dpickett@bigcanoepoa.org or with a hard copy submitted to the POA alpha box at the Postal Facility. Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Friday, May 27. The winner will be announced at 10 a.m, Saturday, July 16 Town Hall meeting in the Chapel.
