Long Range Planning Committee Seeking New Members

The Big Canoe Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC), which has been a standing committee reporting to the Board for approximately 10 years, is seeking new members.

The Committee is currently working with the Board, POA staff and the Finance Committee to create and maintain the new Long Range Master Plan to support the Big Canoe Strategic Plan. Committee members must be Property Owners in good standing. Because of the current activity of completing the Master Plan which requires ongoing assignments and fairly frequent meetings, full time residents are preferred. We seek candidates with professional experience, skills and abilities such as general or practical working knowledge of master planning, property management, facilities management processes or architectural, engineering, construction or business management related activities. Additional skills should also include:

A sincere interest in helping to plan the future direction for Big Canoe
Creativity and critical-thinking skills
Process-oriented
Ability to work well in a team environment, to consider opposing viewpoints and work toward a consensus
Ability to voice one’s opinion, but a willingness to listen to the opinions of others
Writing skills

All committee members are expected to commit to be available for a term of no more than 3 years to provide continuity and efficiency to the committee’s work activities. One-third of the members will rotate off each year, to be replaced by new members.

The committee meets every other Wednesday until the completion of the Master Plan in November with all members required to complete assigned activities in between meetings. Upon completion of the Master Plan in November, the committee meets monthly with the objective of providing quarterly updates to the Board. Interested parties shall submit your bio/resume no later than Monday, May 9 to Joe Thompson at joejax@comcast.net. Brief resumes highlighting your work experience, your skills and your interest in working with our committee are preferred.
