From the POA Board:
We have received the attached notification from Utilities, Inc. of Georgia of their intended 8.4% rate increase effective June 4, 2022. As outlined in the POA Board meeting on March 31, the Big Canoe Water Committee has been diligently working with UIG over the last several months regarding issues with how our rates are calculated.
The Board recently retained legal counsel specializing in public and private water and sewer issues affecting communities similar to Big Canoe. We have concluded the appropriate course of action is mediation by an independent third-party professional organization to review the positions of Big Canoe and UIG, as provided for in our agreement with UIG. We will update Property Owners on our progress.
