Watch LIVE Worship Services on your screen!

Live worship has returned to the Chapel … 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday morning. We hope you can join us.  But if you can’t be in the Chapel, you can still worship with us LIVE on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or smart TV.  Every Sunday, the 10:30 AM worship service can be seen live on your screen.

How do I find it on my device?
After about 10:15 AM on Sunday morning, on your smart device, go to the webpage, bigcanoechapel.org/online. There you’ll find a play arrow.  Just click it!

What if the picture does not fill my screen?
No problem.  Just press the “F” key on your PC or Mac to make the image “full  screen.”

Will I really see the service LIVE?
YES, if you log in before 10:30 AM, it will be live.
If you log in after 10:30 AM, you will see a recording of the entire service starting at it’s beginning.

If I can’t watch on Sunday, how long do I have to watch the recording later?
The arrow link on bigcanoechapel.org/online will allow you to see the Sunday service until the end of the next week. At that time, the arrow link will be changed to the NEXT WEEK’S service.  Just check the date at the top of the page to know for sure which service you’ll see.

But what if I want to watch a service that is more than a week old?
You can find all available recordings of previous services (including bulletins) at bigcanoechapel.org/media-and-resources/sunday-sermons/  There is also a link to this archive on the bigcanoechapel.org/online page.

Got more questions, or need some help?
Just send an email to  technology@bigcanoechapel.org  and someone will contact you.

iDiots get ready to take a bite of their Apple®

By Gary Cherry

For the Big Canoe iDiots, the iPhone users group in our community, this past year has been unique, to say the least. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as various personal issues, Devon Collins and Gary Cherry, head Apple® crunchers, haven’t been able to meet with faithful iPhone users for about a year.

We’d like to get back to semi-normal and are planning to hold a meeting November 6. We anticipate presenting our usual two sessions, one for the New Users at 10:00 a.m. and one for the Seasoned Users at 1:00 p.m. Meetings will be in McCormick Hall on the lower level of the Big Canoe Chapel Broyles Center.

In addition to sharing useful information, we will review the latest iPhone operating system, iOS 14. This is a major change, so be sure to update your phones before the meeting.

We will have to limit the number that can be accommodated in McCormick Hall, so if you’re planning to attend, email gwcherry@windstream.net to let him know which session you are attending. Of course, you’re welcome to attend both.

We will practice social distancing so don’t forget to wear your mask.

Songs soar to the stars

You just can’t stop the music! Musicians who typically perform at the monthly Acoustic Showcase were silenced for weeks as the pandemic tore through the country. Finally, once restrictions were put in place to avoid catching this deadly disease, it was time to give the Big Canoe community a musical shout-out.

For the past two months, The Terraces hosted the sweet sounds of music as players soothed the souls of our essentially homebound community. Plans are to continue the open air, socially distanced concerts; watch for announcements but be aware there is limited seating due to spacing safety.

Check out the Big Canoe Acoustic Showcase Facebook page for updates. While you’re visiting the site, enjoy listening to the music linked there. Music will make you happy! (Photos by Steve Papke)

Could Big Canoe become ‘Green Acres?’

By Alan DeNiro

There’s an initiative sprouting about the possibility of creating a Big Canoe Community Garden with a possible Aquaponics growing system. An announcement on the Neighbor to Neighbor Facebook page brought interest from 112 Big Canoe residents who wanted to know more.

It’s clear Alan has no official authority and doesn’t represent POA or board interests. He’s simply finding owners who might find the idea appealing.

The plan is to identify parcels of land within the community where a garden might be created and used by individuals to “rent” plots for their gardening needs.

“There are so many options to create a reputation for Big Canoe as a green and sustainable community for our residents to grow and use their own garden output and, perhaps have Saturday Farmer’s Markets within our own gates,” explained Alan.

Approval would be required when the time comes. For now, Alan and his gang of would be farmers are visiting sites and planning to present a formal proposal within 60 days.
